Education for Professional Care Staff

Is your team of professional carers skilled to deliver quality person-centred care to the vulnerable people under their protection, especially when Behavioural and Psychological Symptoms of Dementia (BPSD's) are on display?

Expressed behaviours, such as, aggression, agitation, wandering, verbal outbursts, delusions, hallucinations, apathy and anxiety, are usually indicators or signs of distress involving, unmet needs, change in circumstance, emotions or clinical changes.

Knowing the correct responses and approaches which are tailored to the uniqueness of the person living with dementia are more likely to alleviate distress and enhance quality of life. We can develop these skills through educational workshops for your professional teams.

All workshops are customised to suit your particular group and environment and uses simple non complicated terms and language to effectively inform and entertain. These sessions are perfect for small groups and follow a basic structure which begins with a presentation, followed by the opportunity for audience questions, and concludes with an interactive workshop.

These interactive workshops are ideal for floor staff and specifically assist them in understanding the Behavioural and Psychological Symptoms of Dementia (BPSD's), and workshop effective strategies to support residents under their care.

These sessions can include a Virtual Dementia Experience (VDE). This hands-on experience gives professional carers an opportunity to walk in the shoes of someone who lives with dementia and discover first-hand what life is like for them.
