There are a range of things you and your community can do to help people with dementia to feel safe and to remain engaged in the community in a meaningful way.

You can contribute by simply ensuring that your business is Dementia-Friendly.

 Basically, a business that is Dementia-Friendly is a place where people with dementia and their family caregivers are understood, respected and feel safe and included. This includes the physical environment and the social interactions between these individuals and your valuable staff.

 Tim can complete an audit to examine and document to what extent your business is deemed Dementia-Friendly and provide information regarding current strengths and weakness. The audit will examine a number of aspects including the physical and social environment. At completion of the report, recommendations and a suggested action plan are provided to support change in these environments. There is no charge for this service for local small business.

 This uncomplicated audit uses the Dementia Friendly Community Environmental Assessment Tool as designed by Prof Fleming of the University of Wollongong.
