The FACTS about Dementia and ‘Dementia Friends’program.
Dementia is a challenging topic to discuss and is regularly avoided, but evading the subject does not support those with the condition. Avoidance only increases their social isolation, their loneliness, and increases the burden of family carers. However, the quality of life for people with dementia and their families can improve through public education and discussion.
Called – The FACT about Dementia – these FREE community events are ideal for carers and families of a person with dementia or anyone who wishes to gain practical knowledge and understanding about dementia. It is designed to give an understanding of dementia, what happens to a person when they develop dementia and how to communicate with and support a person with dementia. Furthermore we include Dementia Australia’s ‘Dementia Friends’ program and examine the impact of dementia on their families and their community, and discuss the need of creating a dementia-friendly community.
All of these public education events are kindly supported by the Rotary Club of St Ives and currently hosted in Pymble, Sydney. Bookings are essential and there are limited seats available for each session. Please refer to the schedules below. Simply flow the links to secure your seat.
